Castro & Oj

August 29, 2007 / by obliqueone

I know.  An odd pairing.  And THAT, my friends, is exactly my point.  Well, it's sort of my point.  Or, not at all actually.

Ok.  What I'm actually trying to say here is that in the very recent past, both Castro and OJ have unfortunately thrown their weight behind two leading Democratic Presidential candidates.  They've done this much to the chagrin, I''m sure, of the candidates themselves.  It's no picnic for the Democrats either, who, like the Republicans, have their fair share of extremist weirdos as party regulars too.

CASTRO'S BRIGHT NEW AMERICA

Castro's vision for America includes an Obama/Hillary ticket.  Not a terrible ticket for the Democrats, actually - but certainly, Castro is the last champion they need.  Also, OJ recently spoke up on the subject.  I couldn't believe it.  The guy got out of prison and the press asked during one of his first interviews what he missed the most while he was there.  Of COURSE, I expected him to say, MY CHILDREN!!!  Or even, my family.  But no.  Would you like to know what he said?  He missed sex.  I was disgusted.  Hell, even if he was that callous, he shouldn't have advertised it.  The majority of the nation still thinks he's an asshole.  A murdering asshole at that.

So you can imagine my surprise recently when during a nationally televised talk show he attempted to wax intellectual about current events and poltics and said nothing about women's breasts for several minutes.  Then, he announced that he is supporting Hillary for the Democratic nod (what - you expected OJ to support Obama?  Oh please.  Unlike Obama,  OJ left the black neighborhood behind a long time ago.  A fact his jury should perhaps have taken into consideration before weighing his guilt or innocence at trial seemingly soley on the basis of his race - but... bygones).  At least OJ had the good humor to joke, after endorsing Hillary, that his endorsement would probably be the death knell for her campaign.

Castro, on the other hand, didn't seem to grasp the perils of his endorsement.  He didn't seem to get the irony of the fact that an "atta boy!" (or girl) from a socialist whom America has been sanctioning lo these many decades is going to be another nail in the coffin for a Democratic candidate since democrats are constantly accused (and usually unfairly I think, except for the far left-wing fringe) of being so liberal that they veer into socialism anyway.

I do have one idea though.  I think the democrats should hold a summit in Cuba.  A mini-summit.  They should send one delegate; Instead of the DNC (Democratic National Convention), it could be the DICIC (Democratic International Convention In Cuba).  We could have one this year as a trial, because it might (probably) not work out well.  The dems could send one delegate only.  I think this year's delegate should be OJ Simpson.

And... I think we should cancel his passport while he's out of the country.
