Extending Consitutional rights to POWs is very dangerous... if they have rights to attornies to they have rights against search and siezure and the right to vote?
Olberman and the fringe left are practicing what Hitler preached in the early 30s- if you repeat a lie often enough it becomes the truth.
"no American citizen has been denied rights guaranteed in the Constitution"
umm... Ever? I'm pretty certain THAT one isn't true. I'm fairly certain it isn't even true recently.
"Extending Consitutional rights to POWs is very dangerous... "
Oh, I wasn't thinking that far... I was just thinking, you know, GENEVA CONVENTION. I doubt anyone is going to give POW's the right to vote, I mean where are you COMING from with that? Absolutely nobody thinks they should have that. Good Lord! Just the right to be free from torture so that we can set an example as the ENLIGHTENED country. The right not to be treated like McCain was during Vietnam would be nice as long as we are supposed to be setting an example.
"Olberman [sic] and the fringe left are practicing what Hitler preached"
Don't worry, I still think there's a bit of distance between the two. And a small black mustache.
I know you consider yourself enlightened but put some thought into the information you receive. Think critically and with your mind, not your heart.
Now, I like Olbermann's speech, because it was amusing and fun to FINALLY see a newsie take a stand on something. They all want to have an opinion, its refreshing to see one SAY what it is whether you agree with it or not. Even if he did entirely rip the idea off from the movie "Network." Remember that scene? "I'm mad and I'm not gonna take it any more!" - and and all the windows opening?
Back to the debate we were having. We either are or are not having a war. You called them POW's. That was your word choice. If they are POW's they should have Geneva Convention protections. Not doing so puts our own missing soldiers, such as SGT Maupin and others (whom everyone seems to have conveniently forgotten), at a bizarre juxtaposition of status. Ask our "Missing/Captured" soldiers from this "War," "Action," or whatever you'd like to call it, how thrilled they are to be stripped of the Geneva guarantees they've held since 1949. Handy for the PENTAGON. But certainly not for them.
